Kendrick’s singing isn’t bad, well, he’s no Usher or anything, but he sets the mood very calmly and sometimes we all need to be laid back.įinally, Kendrick gets on and starts rapping in a more serious tone. Why does it seem like most rappers wanna start singing? Wanna become RnB artist nahmean? But I have to admit, this is my shit! It’s relaxing and laid back. Though I would have to like to hear Kendrick rapping more aggressively. And the chorus Kendrick does is actually decent and can’t complain much about. But seriously, I could have gone with another chorus.Įven though shit’s strange, the beat is actually pretty dope and works well for the track. Kendrick story of love is actually done pretty good. Other then the out-of-place chorus, this track isn’t bad. Sounds more like something Drake would rap over. As he really doesn’t sound appealing to listen to on here. Instrumental is dope, but doesn’t sound like something Kendrick would sound best over. But i’m not gonna let that hold this track back since this shit gets me mellow with an “elevator music” type instrumental with drums added to it. Remember when I said people don’t like Kendrick’s hooks? Well, this is an example why. And surprisingly works well here, which makes the album start off on a pretty good note. He can either sound aggressive, or completely dull and lifeless. But one that is most common other then his hooks, is his voice. You know, I’ve heard a lot of complaints when it comes to Kendrick’s music. So i’m trusting you, the readers, to know this shit. But do I really need to explain who Kendrick is? Most likely you’ve heard him from either his mixtapes, albums, or the verse he did on Control. I usually give a brief background on the rapper of the album i’m reviewing. Well I told him to do himself a favor and give it a listen. I had a friend of mine say he’s a Kendrick Lamar fan then tell me he’s never heard Section.80. Surprisingly some people don’t know that, well those who heard Kendrick off of Swimming Pools. Yeah, Good Kid m.A.A.d City is NOT Kendrick’s debut. Which there’s a lot of great releases that I should cover and I will eventually, but I decided to start with Kendrick Lamar’s debut album Section.80.

Don’t get me wrong, I’d like to review old school albums as well as some personal favorites, but i’d like to do new releases and modern albums as well. I’ve noticed that I have been a bunch of reviews on old school albums and that’s not really what i’m trying to do here.
